I love sharing the joy of making music, helping my students of all ages grow in their skills, and building positive and encouraging relationships with students and their families.

I am a lifelong learner with insatiable curiosity.

2011: Bachelor’s degree in Music Therapy from the University of Minnesota
Board-Certified Music Therapist
10+ years of teaching and music therapy experience in a variety of settings
In progress: Master’s degree in Music Education & Piano Pedagogy from the University of St. Thomas

Deep Understanding is the driving force of Jenny Focht Music.
I value excellence and growth in response to curiosity and wonder in music. We learn in an effective, embodied, and comprehensive way, leading to a deep understanding of the language of music and an ability to play, express, and create through music.
I also aim to help learners better understand themselves; how their thoughts and feelings interact with the learning process, so they can learn in an intuitive and intelligent way.
Devotion is the pathway to excellence.
It is love of music and desire to grow combined with the will to do what it takes. I believe that consistent dedication to the work is not only the pathway, but that the pathway is itself the destination.
In order to make beautiful music, consistent steps need to be taken to get there.
Play is the goal and fuel of learning music.
Play draws us in and inspires and engages our minds. Play lightens the heart and delights learners of all ages.
We enjoy making music for ourselves and with others, and we have fun along the focused and dedicated path to growth and excellence.
